IT’S BEEN 60 YEARS SINCE THE REVEREND MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. LED A RALLY PROTESTING HOUSING DISCRIMINATION AND SEGREGATED SCHOOLS IN BOSTON.
IT BECAME KNOWN AS THE 1965 FREEDOM RALLY.
SOME 20-THOUSAND PEOPLE GATHERED ON THE BOSTON COMMON TO HEAR THE CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER SPEAK.
THIS WEEKEND, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE REPRESENTING UP TO 125 ORGANIZATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO GATHER AGAIN.
THE FOCUS IS ON THE THREATS TO RACIAL AND ECONOMIC PROGRESS THAT REMAIN.

HE SAYS IT’S AN ESPECIALLY SIGNIFICANT ANNIVERSARY, AS THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SEEKS TO ROLL BACK DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION INITIATIVES IN GOVERNMENT, SCHOOLS AND BUSINESSES.
