National Security Advisor Michael Waltz is leaving his post after coming under fire for inadvertently adding Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal chat group discussing pending attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen. Waltz’s deputy, Alex Wong, is also reportedly stepping down, with far-right activist Laura Loomer taking credit for the firings.
Waltz is the first high-profile official to leave the second Trump administration, and his departure comes as a surprise after he appeared to be in good standing with the president. Bloomberg’s Dan Flatley reports.
