4. SOUNDBITE (English) Alexander Skarsgård, actor:
"This is, I don’t know if it’s a positive take, but it’s the character I play, Murderbot is a android, so it’s a robot with organic components. Murderbot has hacked its governor modules, it’s gained independence, free will. And it talks a lot about these great adventures that it’s gonna go on, but instead it’s kind of procrastinating and watching its favorite soap opera in its element. So, it’s show about procrastination."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Alexander Skarsgård, actor:
"I have no idea if I got it right or not, but it was exciting to play. It was a totally very different character from what I’ve played in the past, and it’s a very sardonic and dry character, and I thought that was fun, and I really enjoyed the juxtaposition between Murderbot in the scene and also it’s told through voiceover, a lot of inner monologue going, and that juxtaposition was a lot of fun to explore because the inner monologue is way more vibrant and vivacious and lively and fun and expressive than Murderbot is in real life. So, I thought that was a lot of fun to explore."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Tamara Podemski, actor – on Skarsgård playing a rebot:
"It is masterful watching him work. This is not an easy role and it might, I hope audiences appreciate it. We got to see up close what that was like, but I hope people understand how very challenging it is to play a robot. You don’t get all the tricks that we have as actors of the flinching of the little facial things that we can do to help you understand what we’re feeling and thinking. But he manages to do it masterfully."
9. SOUNDBITE (English) Chris Weitz, showrunner:
"Well first of all it’s a fascinating character and I think it’s look at what AI might become which is to say that an AI informed on human media actually might end up having a sense of humor as well as anxieties and neuroses and to me, one of the great things about the series about the books is that Martha (Wells, author) understands that there are various ways for coming to be a person, even if they’re not exactly the way that we’re used to encountering people."

11. SOUNDBITE (English) David Dastmalchian, actor:
"The message is there for you as the audience to interpret and take your heart as you will. For me as one of the people involved in the storytelling process, what struck me, often, was our robot, our Murderbot isn’t the Terminator that we have feared in the past. In fact, the enemy, the most dangerous entity in this world, in this story that Martha Wells, created is the corporatocracy. And as we’re seeing right now in our own government, in our world that we’re surrounded by billionaires are sitting in the White House taking control of a government that is completely monopolizing power in a way that is terrifying. When you watch Murderbot, you see what could potentially happen when money is the most important decision-maker when it comes to people’s lives, and that’s what I love about this show so much."
