2. SOUNDBITE (French) Lamine Mamadou Camara, Coordination of French elected representatives of Malian origin:
"The pressure paid off. We were united, but we fundamentally regret this, and we don’t understand why the President (of the French National Assembly) initially refused this minute of silence. We can’t understand it. We are outraged, indignant. It doesn’t help our incomprehension or our anger that there was even the thought of refusing our (minute of silence) request.”

4. SOUNDBITE (French) Yoro Cisse, Aboubakar Cisse’s cousin:
"My cousin was a good person, a very kind person, he was very, very important to us. Frankly, when we heard he’d been murdered just like that, he didn’t do anything wrong… He was a victim of his kindness, frankly, it hurts us very, very, very much. It really hurts us. All we ask of the (French) state is that justice be done, that justice be done, for our brother."

6. SOUNDBITE (French) Addramane Macalou, representative of the High Council of Malians in France:
"Aboubakar Cisse’s only crime was being in a mosque. Aboubakar Cisse’s only crime was to be a Muslim. So this was an assassination, a terrorist attack that the High Council of Malians in France strongly condemns, and asks for this kind of crime never to happen again.”

STORYLINE:
The family of a Muslim worshipper killed in a French mosque on Friday has called for justice in the prosecution of the man responsible.

"My cousin was a good person, a very kind person… He was a victim of his kindness," said Yoro Cisse, Aboubakar Cisse’s cousin.

Aboubakar was alone in the mosque in the former mining town of La Grande Combe when he was fatally stabbed.

The assailant recorded the attack on his phone, and security camera footage showed him shouting insults at “Allah,” which means God in Arabic, local media said.

A minute of silence was held at the French National Assembly on Tuesday, after the request was initially denied.

"We don’t understand why… there was even the thought of refusing our (minute of silence) request,” said Lamine Mamadou Camara, from the Coordination of French elected representatives of Malian origin, adding that the community felt outraged and indignant.

The attacker turned himself in to police in Italy on Monday after two days on the run.

Local authorities say investigators are favoring the hypothesis of an anti-Muslim act, though are also looking at other leads.
