"Mimi (Haley) was a key prosecution witness in the last trial, and she has agreed to testify again, which is very brave of her."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Gloria Allred, attorney:
"The district attorney does not force victims or persons who have relevant evidence to testify if they appear to be victims. So she’s not required to, and this was a very difficult decision on her part. But she’s willing to. I’m very proud of her for that result and that very tough decision. Okay, it’s going to be a challenging day, but I have confidence in her."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Gloria Allred, attorney:
"It’s never a waste of time to seek justice. And I’m very happy that Alvin Bragg, the district attorney of New York County, has made that decision to retry this case. This is the third criminal case in which I have had and represented clients who testified. Hopefully this will be the last."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Gloria Allred, attorney:
"We’re still filing lawsuits, I have two against Sean Diddy Combs for my brave clients. In addition, I’m doing countless confidential settlements without a lawsuit. So I’ve been doing this now for 49 years. It hasn’t slowed down at all, continues. Many women seeking accountability, seeking justice."

STORYLINE:
Testimony continues Tuesday in Harvey Weinstein’s rape and sexual assault retrial in New York, with a witness who testified in the 2020 trial expected to take the stand.

Her attorney Gloria Allred said Mimi Haley doesn’t have to testify but made the "tough decision" to testify again.

"It’s going to be a challenging day, but I have confidence in her," she said

Harvey Weinstein is on trial again after an appeals court threw out the ex-studio-boss’s 2020 rape conviction in a case that was a watershed for the #MeToo movement.

Weinstein’s retrial is playing out at a different cultural moment than the first. Besides the charges being retried, he faces an additional charge based on an allegation from a woman who wasn’t a part of the first case. He has pleaded not guilty.
