STORYLINE:
Residents and shop owners in a town south of the capital Damascus, where clashes erupted recently, described a "difficult" aftermath and extensive property damage.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, said that 22 people had been killed in the clashes altogether, of whom 16 were members of the security forces, while two were Druze residents of Sahnaya.
Mohammad Feras, a falafel shop owner, lamented the heavy damage saying that much will need replacing, but overall was grateful for the halt in fighting.
Ibrahim al-Hariri, another shop owner, said he was warned by neighbors to not come to his shop as the situation was too dangerous on Wednesday.
He followed social media posts to receive updates about the clashes and was able to inspect the state of his shop on Thursday.
Druze militias, prominent in the southwest of Syria, have an uneasy relationship with the current government, which is dominated by Sunni groups.
