3. SOUNDBITE (English) Maria Georgiadis, Banksy painted on her father’s business:
"My dad did a good deed. We believe he met Banksy, gave him some guidance on where he should park his van, offered him a cigarette. And the next day, we have this balloon that’s spray painted on the wall. So unfortunately, we lost my dad four years ago due to a massive heart attack. So we’re hoping to give back to the American Heart Association through this."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Anastasios Georgiadis, Banksy painted on her father’s business:
"Yes, so the battle of the graffiti artists, we’ll call it. Banksy comes, puts this up. Omar was in the crowd, he defaced this, came put on Omar NYC. Now that night, supposedly Banksy came back and wrote, ”is a jealous little girl” with writing ‘is a jealous little girl’, this is all stenciled, and his crown, but he also write, right here, ‘I remember my’, in capital letters, ‘first tag…’. That’s also stenciled."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Arlan Ettinger, Guernsey’s Auction House:
"We raised the question that could the microscopically thin layer of paint that Omar, Omar NYC, sprayed over the bandaged heart, could that somehow be removed? So revealing only what Banksy had done. But then, while pondering that, you realize that what happened then really is part of the history of the art."

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Anastasios Georgiadis, Banksy painted on her father’s business:
"Well, we’re gonna be very sad, actually, being that we’re parting away from a piece of my father. It’s been four years, so it’s about time we give back. Excuse me. It’s been four years, so it’s about time we give back a little something, a little something. It’s about the time to let go."

STORYLINE:
An enormous chunk of warehouse wall that the graffiti artist Banksy emblazoned with a Band-Aid-covered, heart-shaped balloon is going up for sale in New York City.
The “Battle to Survive a Broken Heart” is being displayed publicly for a month starting on Tuesday at Brookfield Place, a shopping and office complex across from the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.
The nearly four-ton wall section — one of a number of guerilla works the famously secretive British artist made during a month-long “residency” in New York City in 2013 — will then be auctioned.
Some proceeds from the May 21 sale will be donated to the American Heart Association, according to the auction house Guernsey’s.
Maria Georgiadis, whose family owns the creation, says the sale is bittersweet but steeped in meaning for the Greek American clan.
Her father, Vassilios Georgiadis, died four years ago from a heart attack after running his roofing and asbestos abatement company from the Brooklyn warehouse where Banksy stenciled the heart-shaped balloon. He was 67.
"Unfortunately, we lost my dad four years ago due to a massive heart attack. So we’re hoping to give back to the American Heart Association through this." she said on a recent visit to the art warehouse where the piece has been stored for more than a decade.
Like other businesses along Red Hook’s once bustling port area, Georgiadis’ building was damaged by flood waters when Superstorm Sandy struck the year prior.
Overnight, the Red Hook warehouse became a destination for Banksy fans.
