"We come from far away, walking for an hour and waiting for two hours to get food from the charity kitchen. The situation is hard in Gaza. The crossings are closed. It’s a full siege. There is no food. There is no water. There are no life necessities. The food being sold is expensive and very little. We come here from far away to get food."

"My baby daughter has no milk or diapers. She has become malnourished because of the lack of food. Our situation is getting worse. Since the famine the children have lost weight because of the lack of food."

"There is no milk so I replace it with water. I used to get by using sugar but now there is no sugar. I give her some water and she drinks it and she eats food I get from the charity kitchen with us, if I manage to get some. But milk has been cut off for her. I used to give her a supplement but that isn’t available either now. I can’t take her to a doctor. There is no transportation."

STORYLINE:
Amid a crowd of desperate children clamouring for food, one young girl screamed in distress.
She was one of dozens crowded around a charity kitchen in Khan Younis, southern Gaza on Friday, pushing and jostling in a frantic attempt to get something to eat.
Israel’s two-month aid blockade of the territory has cut off the territory from all outside supplies of food, fuel and medicine.
Aid groups are running out of food to distribute. Markets are nearly bare.
The only meal being served at the charity kitchen on Friday was rice.
Mustafa Ashour, a man displaced from Rafah, told the AP he had walked for an hour and waited another two to fill his pot with rice.
But Ashour was one of the lucky ones.
