The Vatican will be on lockdown starting Wednesday. The secrecy surrounding the conclave is to protect the cardinals from any outside influence that might impact the way they vote. The cardinals must surrender their phones and the Vatican’s cell phone towers will be deactivated. Signal jamming devices have been installed inside the Sistine Chapel. A hundred Vatican staff and clergy took a solemn oath Tuesday swearing that what happened in the conclave remains a secret forever.
