"No child is coming. We understand this is the arrogant response of the imperialism to the overwhelming call of hundreds of thousands of people in Caracas who claim for the return of Maikelys. This decision taken by the U.S. imperialism has created a global indignation by kidnapping boys and girls. In their arrogance, this is their response: ‘I don’t send any children and I can keep separating children because we are an empire.’"

STORYLINE:
A flight with migrants arrived in Venezuela from the United States on Friday, without the 2-year-old girl who was separated from her mother last week when being deported.
The case had raised controversy in recent days due to the decision of U.S. authorities to leave the minor with a foster family in the U.S. country.
The Venezuelan government had requested on Thursday that Maikelys Espinoza, the separated child, be returned to her relatives in Venezuela and the arrival of a new flight to Caracas had raised expectations as to whether she would be among the migrants transferred on Friday.
Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello confirmed that the minor was not on the flight that landed Friday.
“No child is coming,” Cabello told reporters, adding that the plane arrived from Honduras with 183 people on board, including 157 men and 26 women.
As U.S. authorities said earlier, the child is “under the care and custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement” and “with a host family."
This is the explanation offered in an April 26 statement by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in response to the Venezuelan government’s claims that the child had been “kidnapped” in U.S. territory.
