Retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter has died. The court announced that Souter died at his home in New Hampshire on Thursday. Souter was nominated by President George HW Bush in 1990 to replace retiring justice William Brennan. He was confirmed by Congress that same year. During his 19 years on the court, Souter was known as a moderate, who sometimes voted with the liberal wing of the court, despite being nominated by a Republican president.
