Pope Leo XIV joked with members of the media from around the world on Monday morning after they gave him a lengthy round of applause at the start of his first audience with them at the Vatican.
The pontiff said that applause at the beginning "doesn’t mean much," but that he would be thankful if they were "still awake" to clap at the end.
