"It would be great if he was like Pope Francis. I’m hoping that but it’s hard to tell because I don’t know him at all. I don’t know much about him, so he might be more conservative, more progressive, but hopefully more progressive. It’s a good time for America to have some progressive energy."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Anne Dietrich, tourist from Washington D.C.:
"We would love to see somebody who embodies the same spirit as the as the Pope who recently passed, somebody who really says, as he did a lot, who am I to judge, right? Somebody who really is just showing love."

STORYLINE:
Visitors to the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris shared their thoughts on the election of Chicago-born Cardinal Robert Prevost as the new pope.
Allison Jaynes, from Iowa, said she hopes Pope Leo XIV will be like Pope Francis.
"I’m hoping that but it’s hard to tell because I don’t know him at all," she said.
The Chicago-born missionary who spent his career ministering in Peru and took over the Vatican’s powerful office of bishops was elected the first pope from the United States in the 2,000-year history of the Catholic Church.
Catholic tourists and locals near Madrid’s Almudena Cathedral said they were surprised.
"I didn’t think that it would be a pope from the United States. Oh my God," said Fernanda Sousa, adding that she hopes the new pope does a good job.
“I greet the new Pope, the new Bishop of Rome, with great brotherly love in Christ and great expectations,” Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew told the Associated Press at an event in Athens.
He said he’ll be in Rome for the newly elected Pope Leo XIV’s enthronement.
“I hope that His Holiness Pope Leo XIV will be a dear brother and collaborator … for unity of the whole Christian family and for the benefit of the whole of humankind,” he said.
