Speaker Mike Johnson said he’s “in favor” of a ban on stock trading for members of Congress.
“I don’t think we should have any appearance of impropriety … It’s been abused in the past, and I think sadly, a few bad actors discolor it for everyone.”
The push to ban members of Congress from trading individual stocks has gained attention in recent years. Lawmakers are prohibited from trading on insider information. There is a new push to prevent members of Congress from profiting off nonpublic information provided to lawmakers.
