Fighting continues in Ukraine after first talks in three years stall | DW News

The Ukrainian military says at least eight people have been killed by a Russian drone attack on a civilian bus in Ukraine’s Sumy region. The strike came just hours after the first direct peace talks between Ukraine and Russia since 2022 ended with no breakthrough. Negotiators agreed on a prisoner swap – but failed to produce a ceasefire or a meeting between their two leaders. Ukraine says Russia demanded control of more territory as a pre-condition for a truce.
