"Every year the Palme is handmade. It’s a 100% sustainable, ethical gold and each, each leaf is done by sort of by hand and each year another artisan of the Atelier gets to do it because you can you can sort of see the different hands of each one and it sits on a …it sits on a rock crystal which comes from Austria so this is cut like an emerald-cut diamond. It’s never one like another because it has all these sort of white veins in it and it has some different reflections. Sometimes it’s a bit more transparent, sometimes it’s more opaque, like not broken, like you know how you have deep polished glass, so actually no Palme looks like the other."

"Well, we make sure it gets delivered because it is the most sort of wanted award in the world, not because of its value but because of what it means to cinema and obviously we are responsible until it gets to the Palais so we are not saying how it got here or where it is. And we had already an issue where one year was blocked by customs. So every day they call us, ‘Is the Palme here?’ I said, ‘yeah, sure, it’s here.’ But it wasn’t here, I was like. And I explained to the head of head of Head of Customs that it’s, first of all, it had this value, but that was taken care of. But the second thing I said ‘it’s all about the Palme in your cultural event. You can check on the TV in Cannes, I need this Palme.’ So finally everybody got involved and the day of… the day when the Palme was given, the crate arrived in Cannes."

"It goes either way. Some we know fine at once. Some are sort of preselected, and once they get here and they see the different pieces, they change their mind. There is a lot of pre-work with the stylists. And of course, it has to somehow match also the couture. And actually, this is the third year I’ve launched Caroline’s Couture, so I really do our own dresses to match the jewellery, because sometimes the dresses are too much for a very important piece. But it’s often really on the moment, here on the terrace or in their suites, because they see something else and they fall in love. So then it gets very complicated for the stylists, because they have to run around and get a new dress."

10. Various of new collection jewelry pieces
STORYLINE:
Chopard unveiled the latest Palme d’Or trophy that is to be given to the winner of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. It is the 70th palm to be given since the prize was called the Grand Prix between 1946-1954.
The jewelry house has been an official partner to the movie event fest since 1998 and every year they produce the trophy – each year slightly different than the other.
Handmade by a different artisan each year, the trophy has 19 leaflets in 18 karat sustainable gold and is mounted on a crystal rock cushion, cut like a diamond.
