“The Taiwan region of China has no basis, reason, or right to participate in the World Health Assembly (WHA) without the consent of the Chinese central government. Due to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities’ stubborn adherence to the separatist stance of Taiwan independence, the political foundation for Taiwan’s participation in the WHA no longer exists.
To uphold the one-China principle and safeguard the solemnity and authority of relevant United Nations General Assembly and WHA resolutions, China has decided not to approve Taiwan’s participation in this year’s WHA.”

“To further facilitate the people-to-people exchange between China and foreign countries, China has decided to expand the scope of visa-free countries. From June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, China will implement a visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay. Ordinary passport holders from these five countries can enter China without a visa for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges, and transits for up to 30 days.”

STORYLINE:
China said it’s ready to provide facilitation for the new U.S. Ambassador David Perdue in carrying out his duties in the country as he arrived in Beijing on Thursday.
Ambassador David Perdue, former senator and business executive, announced his arrival in a post at X, saying that “I am ready to get to work here and make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous.”
Asked about his arrival at a daily news briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian reiterated that China’s position of handling bilateral ties “based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.”
Perdue arrived days after the U.S. reached a weekend deal with China to temporarily reduce the sky-high tariffs on each other’s goods, something U.S. President Donald Trump has referred to as a victory.
Albanese said Yang had recently written to him from a Beijing prison, calling it “a message of profound courage and resilience and hope despite his difficult circumstances.”
