STORYLINE:
Former President George W. Bush’s latest exhibit of his paintings showcases scenes close to home: from visitors taking in exhibits at his presidential library in Dallas to walking through its wildflower-filled park.

The exhibit opened Thursday at the George W. Bush Presidential Center, located on the campus of Southern Methodist University.

It features 35 new works by Bush, who left office in 2009 and took up oil painting a few years later. The works are an ode not only to life at the center, but to SMU as well.

Teresa Lenling, director of the presidential museum, says Bush composed the paintings from photos taken around the center and campus.
