STORYLINE:
Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa premiered his upcoming historical drama "Two Prosecutors" at Cannes Film Festival on xday.
The director was joined on the red carpet by the film’s stars Aleksandr Kuznetsov, Aleksandr Filippenko, Anatoliy Beliy and Andris Keišs.
"Two Prosecutors" written and directed by Loznitsa is based on the novel of the same name by Georgy Demidov.
The story takes place in 1937, when a young Soviet prosecutor comes across a letter written by a prisoner. Believing the man to be the victim of the secret services corruption at the time, the prosecutor seeks out justice.
Loznitsa is known mostly for his documentaries. He’s attended Cannes consistently over the years with "The Invasion" in 2024, "The Natural History of Destruction" in 2022, "Baby Yar. Context" in 2021 – most of his latest works focusing on historical and contemporary wars.
The film is one of the 21 films in competition at Cannes.
