STORYLINE:
U2 frontman Bono departed the Cannes Film Festival premiere of his new movie memoir, "Bono: Stories of Surrender with his wife Ali Hewson by his side.
Showing as part of the Special Screenings section of the festival, the documentary received a 6 1/2 minute standing ovation.
The Andrew Dominik-directed film is based on Bono’s 2023 one-man show in New York. It tells the story of the musician’s journey from Dublin schoolboy to global rock star – propelled by his difficult relationship with his father.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the film. It will debut globally on 30 May on Apple TV+.
