STORYLINE:
Wes Anderson and his star-studded cast for new black comedy "The Phoenician Scheme" have arrived at the Cannes press conference for the movie.
The director’s 13th film stars Benicio del Toro, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Jeffrey Wright, Riz Ahmed, Michael Cera, Mia Threapleton and Richard Ayoade.
Anderson ("The Darjeeling Limited," "Moonrise Kingdom," "The French Dispatch," "Isle of Dogs") described "The Phoenician Scheme," co-written with Roman Coppola, as "the story of a family and a family business."
Benicio del Toro stars as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe, who has survived six plane crashes and fathered nine sons and one daughter, a nun called Liesel (Threapleton). Cera plays their tutor, Bjorn Lund.
The Cannes Film Festival runs through 24 May 2025.
