"We don’t want anything except for them to stop the war and stop the gunfire. We don’t want anything, we don’t want a charity kitchen. I swear, even dogs wouldn’t eat this, let alone children and young ones. I don’t have wood, or bread. What would the children eat? Is this what we serve them? Any country or people in the world wouldn’t eat this. We wait from afternoon to the next afternoon to eat lentils."

"We’ve been struggling to obtain flour for nearly three months when it comes to everything, baking, cooking, and charity kitchens, in everything. We have been grinding rice, lentils, hummus and pasta. Every four days, every 10 people wait for two pita breads each – over four days. That is our share to have for breakfast or dinner just so we keep our lives going."

STORYLINE:
People at a displacement camp in Gaza City waited to get their share of food for the day, which some say is insufficient to feed their children.

Several men from a charity group carried a large pot of lentil soup through the camp as one of displaced man said, “they got us water," critcising the lentils for being too watered down.

Israel began allowing dozens of humanitarian trucks into Gaza on Tuesday, but the aid has not yet reached Palestinians in desperate need.

Lentil soup is usually rich and thick, but the batch served on Wednesday at the camp was noticeably thin and watery.

Somaia Abu Amsha filled up her pot and later scooped small portions into mugs and bowls for her family.

She said she doesn’t have wood or bread and a kilogram of flour costs around $30, which she can’t afford.

Abu Amsha said her family hadn’t had bread for over 10 days, adding that she cannot buy rice or pasta.

"We don’t want anything except for them to stop the war and stop the gunfire. We don’t want anything, we don’t want a charity kitchen. I swear, even dogs wouldn’t eat this, let alone children," she said, pointing at the pot of lentil soup she held.

Experts have warned that many of Gaza’s 2 million residents face a high risk of famine.

Several women used a small makeshift oven to bake pita bread out of ground lentils, hummus, rice or pasta.
