German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says Israel’s current level of attacks on Gaza "can no longer be justified as a fight against Hamas terrorism." His comments come after widespread European condemnation of Israel’s 11-week blockade of Gaza and continued restrictions on the entry and distribution of humanitarian aid to the enclave. The EU recently announced that it would review its trade pact with Israel, a move which the German government does not support.
