Kevin Spacey delivered a heartfelt speech on Tuesday night during the Better World Gala in Cannes, where he was honored with the Award for Excellence in Film and Television. According to a press release from the Better World Fund, the award recognized “his decades of artistic brilliance but also for his enduring impact on cinema and the arts.”
The appearance marked a significant moment for the Oscar-winning actor, signaling his return to the public eye following his 2023 acquittal of sexual assault charges.
In his acceptance speech, Spacey expressed appreciation to the organization for their choice to recognize him.
"Who would have ever thought that honouring someone who has been exonerated in every single courtroom he’s ever walked into would be thought of as a brave idea?" he remarked.
He went on to acknowledge his “best friend” and manager, Evan Lowenstein, crediting him for his unwavering support and guidance through “the last few challenging years.”
