"It’s our big day of the year, you know, we get, everyone’s here, all the songwriters are here to celebrate each other, which is the main joy of this very particular day. "These awards are for British and Irish artists, always have been, and there are international awards, too. We’ve never had an Irish fellowship, and I thought that was, we needed to set that right very quickly. So, yeah, I picked up the phone. I mean, I think U2 are an incredibly important band not just because of the music they’ve made but because of all the activism they’ve been involved in over the years, and that’s very dear to my heart. And I think reminding the world that that artists can be great activists is really important right now."
