"New Orleans in general, doesn’t necessarily give you the safest vibes. I don’t think that a small group of people escaping from jail truly tilts the scale very far in either direction from where we were to begin with."

STORYLINE:
Days after 10 men escaped from a New Orleans jail by crawling through a hole behind a toilet and scaling a wall, five have apprehended and five remain at large.
As an investigation continues, residents across New Orleans don’t really know what to think.
"New Orleans in general doesn’t necessarily give you the safest vibes", says 7th ward resident Tyler Cross.
Brianell Carter says it’s scary because he works overnights, "I have to be aware of my surroundings", he said.
Meanwhile in New Orleans East, Mario Westbrook says he was talking with one of the escaped inmates, Dkenan Dennis, before he was apprehended.
"I didn’t know he was a fugitive until the police brought him out the house." He added, "I’ve been talking to the man all day."
