Germany has committed to helping Ukraine produce long-range weapons. Chancellor Merz announced the plan after talks with Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy earlier today in the German capital. Merz said the weapons would be produced by Ukraine with German assistance, with the move representing what he called "a new form of military-industrial cooperation" with Kyiv. Berlin also promised some five billion euros in military support. In addition, Merz said Germany is in talks with the US about new sanctions on Russia. Both Zelenskyy and Merz said Russia had shown no appetite for peace talks.
