"The settlers came to my house around 11:30 in large numbers — about a hundred of them. Suddenly, I saw flames rising from the edge of the house. When I stepped outside, both of our cars were on fire. The fence between my house and my brother’s house was burning, and both of my brother’s cars were also set ablaze. A confrontation broke out between us and the settlers using stones. They damaged my house and set my son’s home on fire. Thankfully, the young men from the village came to help us.”

12. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Mustafa Khater, 40, resident of the village of Bruqin:
"We’ve been suffering since Wednesday from settler attacks and assaults — verbal abuse, stone throwing, and constant harassment at all times. The situation is extremely tragic. Even last night, they attacked again — it was like a coordinated assault across the entire village, from multiple directions. It felt like a war.”

14. SOUNDBITE( Arabic) Mustafa Khater, 40, a resident of the village of Bruqin:
"I evacuated my family, my wife and my children, out of the house since day one. As you can see, we live in an area where they (the settlers) could set fire to us or our home at any moment. So I moved my family away. It’s been ten days now, and I haven’t really been with my kids. Sometimes, if there’s a calm, they come by to see me quickly and then leave again."

STORYLINE:
Settler violence continued this week in the occupied West Bank.

Palestinians in Bruqin village in the northern West Bank, said Israeli settlers attacked them Thursday afternoon burning cars and damaging houses.

“We’ve been suffering since Wednesday from settler attacks and assaults — verbal abuse, stone throwing, and constant harassment at all times,” said Mustafa Khater, whose house was attacked.

Khater was living close to the settlement, and had previously evacuated his wife and four children for fear of attacks. He stayed behind to protect the house, he said.

The war in Gaza has sparked a surge of violence in the West Bank, with the Israeli military carrying out widespread military operations that have killed hundreds of Palestinians and displaced tens of thousands.

There has been a rise in settler violence as well as Palestinian attacks on Israelis.
