Bangladesh: Proposed women’s rights reforms face Islamist resistance | DW News

A women’s rights commission in Bangladesh has proposed reforms to Bangladesh’s interim government, calling for the criminalization of marital rape and equal rights for all women, regardless of religion or ethnicity.

But those plans have met resistance from Islamic organizations – who’ve taken to the streets of the capital Dhaka.
