"We are here today to protest against the inaction of the European Union, the nations of the European Union, against the war crimes, the crimes against humanity that are being perpetrated in Gaza over the last 19 months. We are a network of thousands of Israeli’s across Europe, also in the United States, who are desperate, desperate for the world to take action to stop this horrible situation."

14.SOUNDBITE (English) Liad Hollender, Portuguese-Israeli activist:
"It’s really a horrible position to be in that you know what your country is doing and it’s done in your name and that’s exactly why we’re here to say no, it’s not, this is not done in our name. We are completely against it, but it is heartbreaking because for me it was a process, I feel like my identity was taken away from me because whenever I think about Israel now the things I think about are bad things, you know. So it pains me to speak my language, it pains me to hear songs because now everything is tainted because Israel has become this horrible state that does horrible, horrible things."

15. SOUNDBITE (English) Jerome Hillel Bark, Israeli activist:
“It’s just terrible, you know, you don’t need to be an Israeli or a Jew to see how terrible the things are, but because I am kind of connected to the group that is perpetrating this crime I feel a strong obligation, a moral obligation, more than other people would have to stand and try and act against it, not to be silent, not to be compliant with it, but to stand up against it in any way I can."

STORYLINE:
A group of Israelis living in Portugal and other activists gathered outside the Portuguese Parliament in Lisbon Tuesday to protest against the conflict in Gaza.
Protesters were seen holding signs with photographs of Palestinian children said to have been killed during the recent attacks by the Israeli government, which claimed it was targeting Hamas in the disputed territory.
The protest is one of many scheduled to take place on Tuesday across European cities to call on the European Union to act against the Israeli government.
The joint action across the continent is demanding that European countries, and for the bloc, to comply with a complete weapons embargo and to stop the association agreement with Israel.
Living in Portugal for 14 years, Liad Hollender said she feels her Israeli identity has been tainted by the ongoing conflict.
