"The important thing is that the legal obligation of companies like RWE has been established here today. The legal obligation to deal with the consequences of their actions and to take responsibility for them. This is something that has never been established anywhere in the world in this form before, and that is why I can only be speechlessly happy today. And from tomorrow on, we will continue to work on Saul’s problem on the ground in Huaraz, because of course, the rejection of the appeal today also means that this problem is not resolved."

"Yes, this is a good day for us. The court has decided that the lawsuit against RWE was unfounded and thus the attempt to create a legal precedent here has clearly failed in this second instance as well. We also consider it a completely wrong approach to shift climate policy demands through NGOs into German courtrooms. If this sets a precedent, soon every German industrial company would be confronted with climate lawsuits from all over the world. That cannot be the solution. This would massively endanger Germany as an industrial location."
