FANS SUPPORT MICHAEL JACKSON
As the spectacle of Michael Jackson’s arrest was beamed to viewers around the world, fans rallied to the pop icon’s defense while his entertainment industry peers mostly kept a cautious silence.
After Jackson returned to Las Vegas following his booking Thursday on suspicion of child molestation, fans flocked to his caravan as it cruised along city streets.
Jackson followers planned rallies at his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame and at his Neverland Ranch, as well as in London and New York.
The entertainment world largely withheld comment.
Many fans speculated the charges may be part of a vendetta pursued by Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon, who tried to build a child-molestation case against Jackson a decade ago.
The case collapsed after Jackson’s accuser reportedly accepted a multi-million dollar civil settlement and refused to testify in a criminal case.
