UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said all citizens of the UK will have to play a part in the defence of the nation, as he launched the government’s strategic defence review.
The proposal includes plans to spend 15 billion to modernise Britain’s nuclear weapons as well as building new munitions factories and submarines.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey said "we are in a new era of threat, which demands a new era for UK defence", while outlining the government’s defence spending plans.
It comes after Keir Starmer said the UK military was moving to "war-fighting readiness" and that the threat from Russia cannot be ignored.
