3. Various of architect Marina Tabassum posing for photos in front of photographers near the pavilion
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Marina Tabassum, architect:
"We call it the Capsule in Time, so it has a certain kind of… (it’s based on) my interest in architecture and time and I try to work on that idea and it is kind of shaped as a capsule. So you see there are two half domes and then we have these two vaulted spaces, so four segments, and in the centre we have this beautiful ginkgo tree, which is actually aligned with the bell tower of the Serpentine Gallery."

5. Wide exterior of pavilion
6. Mid tilt of exterior of pavilion showing wooden capsule form with a translucent façade
7. Close of translucent façade as a tree can be seen in the reflection
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Marina Tabassum, architect:
"You see this translucent material which brings in the light through the material itself and creates this very ethereal kind of an atmosphere within the space which was kind of intentional. The tree is a sort of a representation of park and nature and in a way brings a scale to that space. At the same time, it’s also quite nice that it’s a gingko tree which we selected. It’s one of the oldest trees and a very resilient tree. And beautiful sculptural form and I love the fan-shaped leaf that you can see there."

11. SOUNDBITE (English) Marina Tabassum, architect:
"I come from Bangladesh where it’s a delta and parts of Bangladesh, because of the hydrological system of the Ganges Brahmaputra system, it’s constantly moving and changing in shape and form and people in those areas are constantly moving also. So what we know as home or house or settlement is not static, it also moves."

12. Mid pan of translucent façade near the roof of the pavilion
13. Close of translucent façade detail
14. SOUNDBITE (English) Marina Tabassum, architect:
"For me, architecture is not always about staticness, but it’s also about this temporality. And the pavilion itself is a kind of a temporal structure, which is here for five months. And then it will move on to its second life or an afterlife. And it was an interesting point for me also to bring that analogy back from Bangladesh to here and work on this temporality. That’s why it’s called the Capsule in Time."

15. Wide of architect Marina Tabassum giving speech inside pavilion as part of its unveiling
16. Tilt down of inside the pavilion to the Serpentine gallery building
17. SOUNDBITE (English) Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director at Serpentine Galleries:
"We’ve been looking at her work for many years and been deeply moved and deeply impressed by the work she built in Bangladesh, by the spaces she created together. She has created amazing spaces for people to come together and very much the Serpentine Pavilion is about that. It’s about bringing people together here in the park. There are no doors. The Pavilion’s open for everyone. It’s free admission. And Marina’s focus on such places together is very important."

18. Various of people sitting on bench inside pavilion and chatting to each other
