A second day of violent protests has broken out in Los Angeles amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration. Dozens of people have been arrested in raids across the city. Mayor Karen Bass has accused immigration agents of terrorising communities.
Demonstrators gathered outside a migrant detention centre, demanding the release of more than 40 people rounded up earlier in the day. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers searched several locations. US immigration authorities have been ramping up arrests nationwide in order to fulfil President Trump’s promise of mass deportations. A senior White House aide has condemned the Los Angeles protests, labelling them an "insurrection".
