“Writing a comedy makes you very humble because you fail and you fail, and you fail again because sometimes it’s funny when you write it or it’s funny when your hear it and then you shoot it and it’s just not working and you need to find… So I’m glad that you mentioned the physical comedy as much as sometimes a line that was funny. I tried to balance that. I was inspired also by some Jane Austen’s book. And one thing that I realized that I love so much about her writing is the way she, when characters are talking, they interrupt themselves. When it becomes too emotional or when she wants to be funny. And this was a very big inspiration. It’s like, okay, we know that good lines, good dialogs means people never saying what they feel or what they think sometimes, most of the time, no? It’s the in between that is interesting to explore.”
