"Now when we go to Hajj there are so many objectives of Hajj. And from them the most important one, of course, is reconnecting with our creator. And for those of us that have shortcomings, it’s a time for us to redeem ourselves through the sacrifices that we make throughout Hajj."

"Us as imams in the mosque, our main role, you can say, is the spiritual aspect, making them spiritually ready for this journey. Of course, we do have seminars on how we can do the practical aspect of Hajj, but our focus is mainly on the spiritual side, how they can be ready. So when they go that they are not wasting their time, they are focused in all of the worship that they do while they’re there."

"It’s not necessarily wrong for someone to engage themselves in social media once they’re there. In fact, actually, it could be a reason for motivation for others. If someone gets to see it, as you see in the Hajj exhibition in the mosque, the reason why we did it, is so people can see it, they can take pictures and they can think: ‘Hold on a second, when is going to be my turn to go for Hajj?’ So again it’s just creating that balance. So we say that there’s certain times throughout the Hajj experience that people should be less on their devices and more spiritually connecting with their creator rather than being on the phone."

"When we go there (on Hajj), then ritually we feel better. This is number one. Number two, if we go and then perform Hajj perfectly, then our prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said very nicely that whoever is performing Hajj with his full intention to worship Allah, then Allah will forgive them, number one, and number two Allah will place them in Jannatul Firdaus – the most high quality of Paradise, it is our main intention to get it."
