Russia says it is pushing further into Ukraine from the east, advancing to the western edge of the Donetsk region for the first time. The Russian Defense Ministry says its forces are now preparing an offensive into the neighbouring region of Dnipropetrovsk. The news follows days of intensified Russian shelling of Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv. Russia has stepped up its aerial assaults in recent weeks, launching some of the largest waves of drone and missile attacks since the beginning of the war.
