Médicos, residentes y personal administrativo del Hospital Garrahan, el principal centro pediátrico de Argentina, se manifestaron el lunes para exigirle al gobierno una urgente recomposición salarial.
Los manifestantes portaron velas en rechazo a los sueldos que ellos y otros profesionales de la salud reciben, los que dicen no les alcanza para hacer frente a una canasta básica de productos y servicios.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Laura Olivera, servicio de Neurología del Hospital Garrahan:
"On the other hand, it doesn’t seem to us at all that this solves the problem we’ve been having, because our biggest issue is budgetary. That is, we are working without a budget and we are truly asking for the appropriate budget to be allocated so that we can continue working and move forward with what we do every day."

"I can testify that it is one of the best hospitals, because in such a short time they have helped my son so much. And the way they care for patients is beyond words. I always say, and I will keep repeating, that to us they are like family. They are an additional family to us. The Garrahan Hospital is an additional family to us."
El Hospital Garrahan atiende el 40% de la patología oncológica infantil en Argentina y realiza un 60% de los trasplantes.
Sus trabajadores han protagonizado otros reclamos desde 2024, el primer año de gobierno de Javier Milei, un ultraliberal que ha hecho del recorte del gasto público para combatir la inflación su principal bandera.
Los profesionales de la salud del hospital han denunciado en comunicados que “la asfixia salarial” ha causado la renuncia de unos 200 trabajadores, afectando con ello a los pacientes.
