You know that at yesterday’s meeting our Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the view that, despite this, it is necessary to continue contacts at the working level. And this view was supported by the head of state.”

STORYLINE:
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov did not elaborate on a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held Wednesday, saying only that the two world leaders, “discussed many essential, important issues” and that the call was “constructive and needed.”
Peskov added that Moscow “would prefer to hear at least a strong condemnation” of the recent explosions on railways in Russia’s Kursk and Bryansk regions that were seen as Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilians, he said.
He also declined to discuss Putin’s threatened response to Ukraine’s attack on Russia’s airbases, saying that the Russian military would decide upon action “as and when appropriate.”
However, despite Kyiv’s actions, Russia plans to continue negotiations, Peskov added.
