"The discussions are ongoing, and we will see in the coming days if we indeed need to raise the tone and take concrete measures. I do not want to say more here so as not to hinder the ability of our ministers. First, to finalize the agreement, but also and above all to achieve results and secure this ceasefire, which is so important. We are working closely with other European countries on one hand, and with the British on the other, on this matter."

STORYLINE:
French President Emmanuel Macron said discussions with Israel are on-going with the primary goal being obtaining a ceasefire.
When asked about possible sanctions on Israel, Macron said the next few days will show whether “we need to raise the tone and take concrete steps” in that direction.
The French President spoke during a press conference with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva who is on a State Visit to France.
