STORYLINE:
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived in France on Thursday for a state visit aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Brazilian leader with a ceremony at Paris’ Les Invalides and later to the Elysee palace.
Officials said talks were set to include key areas including defence, the economy, biodiversity protection, energy transition, and the fight against disinformation.
The meeting comes ahead of the third United Nations Conference on the Oceans in southern France next week, as well as the next UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) due to be held in Belém, Brazil in November.
