Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist and former advisor to Donald Trump has supported the president’s move to send National Guard units to LA amid the continuing protests there.

Protests erupted across pockets of Los Angeles, which were triggered by immigration enforcement operations in parts of the city on Friday.

Speaking to BBC chief anchor Caitriona Perry, Bannon said Trump should "should double and triple down today with ICE raids" in response.

When asked about the US public’s right to protest “let me repeat this for the BBC to please write down, there’s 10 million illegal 10 million illegal alien invaders came in here in four years".

In another claim he also said the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass "should go to jail". Mayor Bass has repeatedly said local police could have handled the protests.
