"The travel ban that Donald Trump is implementing, it’s a chain reaction. It’s going to affect everyone. Most Haitians are what? Democrats. If most Haitians were Republicans, maybe there might have been a different tone on this. Now you’re going to accelerate all of the chaos and violence that is in Haiti right now."

"The little bit of people that was able to go back and forth to America and help the country, now you’ve taken that arm away from Haiti. So it’s almost to say you just want the country just to disintegrate. You don’t want the country to be better."

STORYLINE:
Starting Monday, citizens of Haiti, as well as those from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, will be banned from entering the U.S.

In Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood, businessman Wilkinson Sejour said the impact of the latest travel ban issued by the White House this week will be seen not only in Haiti but also in the local Haitians communities that live in the U.S.

Sejour is a 55-year old with 10 Haitian restaurants across south Florida. He has been living in the U.S. for decades and opened his first restaurant in 1992.

He has no direct family in Haiti, but he said that most of his employees are originally immigrants from Haiti, as well as his clients.

"The travel ban that Donald Trump is implementing, it’s a chain reaction. It’s going to affect everyone," he said.

"Now you’re going to accelerate all of the chaos and violence that is in Haiti right now."

In a video released on social media Sunday, Trump defended the travel ban, saying some countries have “deficient” screening and vetting processes and have historically refused to take back their own citizens.
