2. SOUNDBITE (English) Kamil Sztalkoper, Public Affairs Director, Army III Armored Corps:
“So today we are finally downloading some of the armor vehicles that will be in the US Army’s 250th birthday parade on 14 June. Right behind me are the last four M1A2 Abrams tanks that have to be downloaded here shortly.”

4.SOUNDBITE (English) Kamil Sztalkoper, Public Affairs Director, Army III Armored Corps:
“So overall, from Fort Cavazos, we brought 28 Abrams tanks, 28 Bradley fighting vehicles, six Paladins, and then 28 Stryker infantry carriers, which were downloaded yesterday at Benning CSX Maryland yard. Overall, that is 90 vehicles of the 150, which will be in the parade on 14 June.”

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Kamil Sztalkoper, Public Affairs Director, Army III Armored Corps:
“We do this type of movement by rail of all of our vehicles when we either go to the National Training Center in Fort Wayne, California, or if we have to go to deployment or rotation to either Europe, the Korean Peninsula, we move it to Beaumont, Charleston, Corpus Christi, all via train. So this is, if anything, another set of reps to make our soldiers more trained and proficient in deploying our equipment.”

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Kamil Sztalkoper, Public Affairs Director, Army III Armored Corps:
“It’s going to cost a little bit of money, but we’re getting trending value out of this. But also we get to tell our story to the American people. So when we get set up on the National Mall with some of our static displays, we are going to be talking to Americans, talking to festival goers, we’re going to telling the Army story, we’ll be talking about these great pieces of machinery that we get to drive and employ on every day. Overall, this is like a big recruiting event, telling the story of the U.S. Army and its rich history, its rich heritage that’s existed for 250 years.”

STORYLINE:
U.S. Army tanks and other equipment were unloaded from trains at a railyard in Jessup, Maryland to take part in the military parade for the service’s 250th birthday celebration on June 14.

Among the equipment arriving Monday from Fort Cavazos, Texas, are army tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles, Paladin howitzers, and other equipment according to Kamil Sztalkoper of the Army III Armored Cops.

“We do this type of movement by rail of all of our vehicles when we either go to the National Training Center in Fort Wayne, California, or if we have to go to deployment or rotation to either Europe, the Korean Peninsula, we move it to Beaumont, Charleston, Corpus Christi, all via train," Sztalkoper said.

The event has grown extensively in scope and size since Army planners started working on a festival two years ago to mark the day and have now added a military parade — which President Donald Trump had unsuccessfully tried to do during his first term.

On the day of the parade, tanks as well as 28 tracked Bradley Fighting Vehicles, 28 wheeled Stryker combat vehicles, four tracked M-109 Paladin self-propelled howitzers and other towed artillery will maneuver to the start of the parade route just off the National Mall. A total of 150 vehicles will be participating in the parade according to Sztalkoper.
