"Unfortunately, because of the events that have happened in India earlier today, the mood is obviously one of sadness. And many devotees who come to worship here or at other temples, they may have been affected in one way or another because they know maybe they’re relatives or a relative or a acquaintance. So unfortunately, because they have lost their loved ones, naturally, they are saddened, shocked as well. And they turned to the temple for comfort as well as solace in this very difficult time of grieving."

STORYLINE:
Members of the Hindi community gathered at Neasden Temple in northwest London Thursday, to mourn the victims of an Air India plane crash which was bound for UK capital.
"The mood is very much sombre, and one of sadness," said temple spokesperson Tarun Patel.
At least 240 people were killed when the plane crashed in a residential area of Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff Thursday, sending a massive fireball into the sky.
One passenger who was thrown from the plane survived.
"Many of the passengers were actually Gujaratis and many of the devotees that come to visit this temple or worship at the temple are from Gujarats. And because of that, obviously, they feel it’s close to home," said Head Swami of the temple, Yogvivekdas Swami.
Britain has very close ties with India.
There were nearly 1.9 million people in the country of Indian descent, according to the 2021 U.K. census.
