STORYLINE:
Indonesia and New Zealand were on Friday signing cooperation agreements in the fields of education and food during a visit by New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters to Jakarta.
Peters was welcomed by his Indonesian counterpart Sugiono, and the leaders held talks with the delegations from both countries.
After the meeting the ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of education.
“We’re agreed on the training and education because we’re understand that New Zealand is very advanced in agriculture technology, advanced in agriculture universities that we can also learn (from)” said Sugiono during a joint press statement.
Later on Friday the countries will sign an agreement in cooperation of Halal food.
The new arrangement strengthens halal cooperation with Indonesia, which will facilitate halal food trade between New Zealand and Indonesia.
“We’re welcome the conclusion of cooperation arrangement on Halal products this will facilitate the convenience the safety and security of Halal food traded between our countries," Peters told the joint news briefing with Sugiono.
