STORYLINE:
Khaby Lame, the world’s most-followed TikTok personality, appeared at a charity event for children on Friday alongside AC Milan footballer Emerson Royal, just days after leaving the United States following a run-in with immigration authorities.
In a lively and relaxed atmosphere, Lame played “futebol de sabão” — a popular Brazilian game involving a slippery, soapy inflatable soccer field — and was cheered on by the crowd, made up mostly of children.
The event took place in the city of Americana, about 78 miles (125 kilometers) northwest of São Paulo.
Lame left the United States after being detained on June 6 by immigration agents at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for allegedly overstaying his visa.
The Senegalese-Italian influencer, whose legal name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was allowed to leave the country without a deportation order, according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Lame, who has more than 160 million followers on TikTok, is expected to return to Italy.
He has not commented publicly on his detention or his departure from the United States.
"Today is a special day for them (children),” said Paulo Eduardo Dias Junior Dias Junior, city councilman who organized the event. “I’m sure Khaby will return to Italy very happy, and Emerson Royal is very happy to provide this for the children of the city where he once lived.”
