Karen Read was found not guilty of murdering her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe. The 45-year-old ex-college professor teared up and hugged her attorney as the verdict was read. Minutes earlier, there was chaos and confusion. It appeared there was a verdict and then there wasn’t. Large crowds of Read’s supporters, wearing pink, are keeping a vigil outside Boston. They were under court order to stay quiet so the jurors could not hear them.
