STORYLINE:
The Kremlin condemned the "dangerous" escalation between Iran and Israel on Monday as tit-for-tat attacks between the two adversaries continued.
President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia was ready to do “everything necessary” to resolve the “root causes” of the conflict, but added it would now be more difficult to do so.
The latest conflict began when Israel launched an assault on Iran’s top military leaders, uranium enrichment sites and nuclear scientists.
Iran has retaliated by firing waves of ballistic missiles at Israel.
The back-and-forth has raised concerns about all-out war between the countries and propelled the region, already on edge, into even greater upheaval.
Peskov also said he was unaware if a decision had been made by Moscow to organize a full evacuation of its citizens from Israel and Iran.
